Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar – 157 Commercial St, London E1 6BJ

Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar

From carolynelw.wordpress.com

When Steven Gerrard was asked in an interview what his favourite cheese was he famously answered ‘melted’, that’s genius!

The bar is nice, its looks and feels just like the Seven Dials bar just smaller, dark woods, green light shades, very macho.

The Short Rib Nuggets are fucking amazing, pulled beef with a melted cheese centre deep friend in bread crumbs. The beef really made this, it was so tender and rich, only the devil could hate these. They don’t need the kimchi dipping sauce, the flavours do not go well together if you ask me.

I have had a distant love affair with Poutine without having ever had it. Poutine is a dish from Quebec and involves drowning french fries in gravy and topping with cheese curds. This is the kind of food I love, fried, fatty and covered in gravy, I know I sound like that twat Guy Fieri. Hawksmoor’s gravy is very rich and chickeny and it is topped off by crispy chicken skin, unbelievable.

The kimchi burger was good but as I shared this with three other gumps I managed to score a kimchi less quarter, the burger itself was good but nothing to write home about.

The short rib french dip on the other hand was outstanding, the beef (the same as the nuggets) as you would expect from Hawksmoor was delicious and made this dish.

This bar will become my go to stop for visitors to London, I can’t remember the cocktails as the food had me wholly consumed.

Dos Cojones!
