This place is in Stockwell so it’s surrounded by housing estates and not much else, still the Canton Arms is well worth the trip.
We started with two of their famous toasties, a foie gras and a haggis, both exceptional, the foie gras toastie was as you would expect, incredibly rich, the bread is heavily buttered which adds to the oozy, greasy goodness. You should definitley get one of these, but share it as you’re likely to keel over with heart palpitations eating one alone. The haggis toastie was also great, less rich and comes with good ole HP sauce.
For a main I had the lamb shank, cooked wonderfully and incredibly tender, the meat was stewed and full of flavour. The broth was beautiful.
Our waiter was fantastic, a friendy foodie hipster, this is a proper gastro Pub, full of locals, a little rough around the edges with great food and very casual and laid back.
