Great Queen Street – 32 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5AA

A more recent review of Great Queen Street can be found here.

The Mackerel with beetroot and horseradish was delicious but the Snails with Bacon Salad was disappointing, the snails were chewy and tasteless. The starter special of an assortment of tomatoes with sour cream and chives was a waste of time. The tomatoes were nothing special and  being served with sour cream did nothing for me, I’m confused why this dish existed.

The mains of Plaice and Scottish Beef Onglet were great. The Plaice was cooked well, the accompanying sauce was fresh and very fishy. The Beef Onglet was cooked medium rare and turned out to be a very tasty cut of beef that I had not had before. The accompanying Bearnaise and chips were also very good.

Very pleased with the desserts, macaroon sundae, custard tart with gooseberry sauce and  the yogurt moose with figs and pistachios.

It started kind of badly but came through solid with mains and desserts.

Dos Cojones!
