Banana Tree – 75-79 Battersea Rise, London SW11 1HN

Banana Tree according to urbanspoon is the most popular restaurant in London. The cuisine is a mix of Thai, Malay and a little Vietnamese thrown in.
The Vietnamese spring rolls were good, with glass noodles and vegetables. I prefer the wrappers used on Vietnamese spring rolls to the ones you typically get in Chinese places, they are much less oily and have a better texture.
The Crispy Chicken with Mango and Sweet Lime Sauce was juicy and well cooked, a better version of the Lemon chicken that you’ll get at your local takeaway Chinese. I even liked the pickles. For many I’m sure the sauce is too strong and too sweet, but I enjoyed it.
My only complaint was the rice was a little wrong, maybe undercooked as there was way too much bite to it.
Banana Tree does not deserve to be the number one London restaurant on Urbanspoon but it’s ok for a quick lunch.
Un Cojone!

Noticed you’re in SW11 (last few reviews) have you yet tried Jacks Place…
No I haven’t tried it and if i’m honest I have never heard of it. I’m going to add it to my list. Thanks for the tip!
Jack unfortunately is no longer here, but its still the great place it always has been. Interested to hear/see what you think…
